An Elegant Wedding Concept... But Make It Black
Hanka and Karel dreamt of an unconventional wedding, fusing their love for elegance with a tasteful touch of extravaganza. The bride managed to stay completely true to herself and her intuition during the year of wedding preparations that saw our design concept gradually come to life.
Although both newlyweds envisioned a December wedding set against heavenly snowy backdrops, their color accent of choice was black. This atypical color tied together all the elements, from the wedding menu to the invitations sealed with a black wax stamp and adorned with a fluffy feather. The wedding guests sensed the air of drama and anticipation from the very moment they opened their envelopes.
A Journey Through Light and Darkness
Our choice of the wedding location was clear — the dark Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral embodied the perfect counterpoint to the glowing, golden Imperial Hall in the Lobkowicz Palace, one of the most stunning ballroom wedding venues in the Czech Republic. We played with the contrast between gold and black, creating a cohesive link between the design concept and the overall ambience.
The ceremony in the cathedral took place during an unexpected snowstorm. The bride, arriving in a black limousine, walked in her white dress along the snow-covered ancient cobblestones. This scene alone felt like a surreal vision, stopping not only the wedding guests but also amazed passersby.
To balance the official ceremony in the dimly lit cathedral, we needed to create a dramatic contrast. And so we guided the guests through the blizzard to the Lobkowicz Palace to the sparkling Imperial Hall with lavishly decorated tables that invited them in.
Art Is in the Details, Including Flower Petals
Hanka and Karel’s wedding was, without exaggeration, a fairytale. Some details left the guests wondering whether they're dreaming or not— for instance the floods of white lilies featuring petals adorned with shimmering stones, barely visible to the naked eye. In the side lounge, we crafted a decadent sweet bar, contrasting a subtle gold design with an opulent display of pâtisserie jewels in black and gold. Above it rose a majestic five-tier wedding cake, embraced by delicate decorations resembling frozen winter flowers.
However, many wedding details remained undisclosed. We meticulously planned the wedding down to the second, ensuring the entire day continuously built towards the evening. Blending darkness with light, the lighting composition was absolutely crucial. We aimed to highlight iconic moments, such as the breathtaking first glimpse of the Imperial Hall, the newlyweds' first dance, or the entrance of selected virtuosos and their incredible violin solo under the spotlight — a performance so beautiful it sent shivers down spines. A mysterious smoke effect before the final show added to the magic. Hanka and Karel's wedding flowed with the same natural ease as snow melts. Behind the scenes, however, was a perfectly orchestrated operation and a team that counted down every second.
A Wedding After Party for the Happily Ever After
The day culminated into evening, and evening turned into an endless night. The celebrating guests moved to the second wing of the palace, where the wedding's grand finale occurred.
The centerpiece was an elegant champagne pyramid, sparkling and glittering, as Hanka and Karel poured the bubbles, glowing with happiness. Both the bride and the groom changed their styling for the evening, matching the upcoming party mood. The after party starred an illuminated dance floor, a mirror photo booth, and a bar offering expertly mixed signature drinks under a neon sign Happily Ever After.
The bride, groom, and their guests danced through the wedding night until the early morning. The windows of Lobkowicz Palace glowed like stars, twinkling in the snowstorm. No other ending would be a match for this fairytale winter wedding.
